One lady called me and said she bought a teacup imperial Shih Tzu puppy from other Shih Tzu breeder, that breeder told her that puppy father 4 Lbs and mother is only 5.5 Lbs (she NEVER saw her puppy's parent, that breeder told her the puppy parent live somewhere else), that breeder told her the puppy will be Imperial Shih Tzu 4-5 lbs, but she said her male Shih Tzu puppy already weigh 9 lbs at 6 months old. (As a breeder, I find this is impossible to breed a 5 pounds Tcup female Shih Tzu dogs because it is too tiny and dangerous to be bred, and even though so, the dogs litter size will be very small due to the dog small body, should be only 1 or 2 puppies in a litter the most.
Some breeders FAKE about the AGE of puppies (The litter was born 6 weeks ago but they register the litter being born 8 weeks ago, etc...), so puppies look and weight much smaller........
Although our Shih Tzu dogs are so small, but each litter usually has only 1-2 Imperials Teacups Size puppy, and sometimes may has puppy bit larger than parent.
To "ROUGHLY " Estimate a Shih Tzu Puppies Adult Weight, See Chart Below:
For GIRL: 8 Weeks Old Weight x 3.8 to 4.2 = Adult Weight, so if the girl weight 2 lbs at 8 weeks old, she should be around 7 3/8 to 8 1/4 Lbs fully grown. Female Shih Tzu dog Size fully grown at around 7-9 months old.
For BOY: 8 Weeks Old Weight x 4.2 to 4.8 = Adult Weight, so if the boy weight 2 lbs at 8 weeks old, he should be around 8 1/4 to 9 3/8 Lbs fully grown. Male Shih Tzu dog Size fully grown at around 9-12 months old.
If Shih Tzu after above age still gaining weight, usually because feeding too much or exercise muscle too much, etc...
This is only ROUGHLY Estimate, Puppy Grown Up Quality and Size are Usually Similar to their Parents.
BE CAREFUL! Some Breeders MIX Shih Tzus and Sell Them As A Pure-Bred Shih Tzu, Some Has Extreme Unpleasing Face, Some Totally Don't Look Like Shih Tzu At All.
PUPPIES WANTED! Some breeders told you they have Size Guarantee, be sure to read the document carefully, honest size guarantee should be = This puppy is guaranteed to be certain weight or pounds when fully grown... It usually applies to the older puppies that over 6-8 months of age.
Or some Size Guarantee, if the puppy at least DOUBLE the stated weight (6 Lbs but it turned 12 Lbs, 8 lbs but it turned 16 Lbs! And you need to RETURN puppy to get the replacement (when the puppy grow too big you are already probably too attached to give it back that easily in order to get your replacement).
We have posted these page to give you idea of Imperial teacup Shih Tzu and Tiny Miniature Shih Tzu dogs. (Please don't ask me about your dog or puppy that you bought from other breeders, better ask your breeder or your Veterinarian.) If dog's size is extremely important to you, the best is buy an older age puppy or adult.
My favorite sizes Shih Tzus are between 5-9 lbs. Imperial shih tzu, Teacups, miniature, Tinnies, Toy, Standard... Shih Tzus is ONLY people use to describe the different sizes of the dogs, and is a matter of personal preference. Regardless Of Size Or Breeds, Most Important is breeders should bred only GREAT TEMPERAMENT HEALTHY QUALITY dogs.

We will not put an exact price on puppies until about 6 weeks of age, sometimes it just impossible to say a newborn puppy will be a teacup, miniature, show quality or......., I had Shih Tzu puppies birth weight about 6 Ozs, and it turn out only about 5 pounds as an adult, and I had Shih Tzu puppies weight only 3 Ozs at birth, but it weigh almost 8 pounds as an adult. Also during the first year of age, what diet and how much food you give your puppy and how much exercise everyday DO makes a different too.
Be careful some people only give you 48 hours of Health Guarantee, but some life threatening contagious disease like Parvo, Distemper, etc... symptoms will most likely appear about 3-7 days after the dog is exposed to the virus.
San Francisco Bay Area Puppy Wanted?:
There are Shih Tzu puppy-mill brokers & Puppy-mill Shih Tzu breeders in SF bay area, they buy lots of puppies regularly from puppy mills for Extremely Low price, and sale those Shih Tzu puppies through local Newspaper or Internet for much much higher price, and call those puppies Show Quality, Top Quality, Imperial, Tiny, Healthy, Very Small, etc..... I got many peoples calling me and telling me their poor puppies died only few days or weeks after they got home, or her adult Shih Tzu dogs gets mad easily and bit people cause bleeding repeatedly and needed to be put to sleep, Some of these puppy-mill breeders and puppy-mill puppies brokers keep changing their phone number and location regularly. Suggest ask to see the Parents, Pedigrees and Puppy AKC Paper.
Choose your breeder carefully. Purchasing a puppy from a back yard breeder or puppy mill, only encourages these peoples to continue breeding un-sound dogs.
DON'T be a FOOL to buy a BAD Quality Bred Dog for High Price.
No matter what breed / kind of puppy you wanted, don't be rush, be smart with your search.
It has come to my attention that some website have copied my text and photos and use it as their own, and even named their website very similar to mine (only one character different) but with very different quality lots of dogs.
